Characterization of a nonhemagglutinating mutant of mink enteritis virus in China

چکیده
Parvoviruses are small eukaryotic DNA viruses that infect a variety of animal species, including humans. Canine parvovirus type-2, feline panleukopenia virus and mink enteritis virus are all host-range variants of the carnivore parvovirus subgroup. These viruses could hemagglutinate (HA) swine or rhesus monkey erythrocytes in buffered saline solutions at pHs between 6.0 and 6.8. Here we report a nonhemagglutinating mutant of MEV and the amino acid differences compared with other MEV, FPV and CPV strains. Further studies and investigations on MEV are needed to clarify whether this mutant is fixed in the MEV population as a consequence of the mechanisms of antigenic escape or further adaptation to broader host range. It turns crucial to have a better understanding of the epidemiology and evolution of parvovirus.

Development of a nanoparticle-assisted PCR (nanoPCR) assay for detection of mink enteritis virus (MEV) and genetic characterization of the NS1 gene in four Chinese MEV strains
BACKGROUND Mink enteritis virus (MEV) causes mink viral enteritis, an acute and highly contagious disease whose symptoms include violent diarrhea, and which is characterized by high morbidity and mortality. Nanoparticle-assisted polymerase chain reaction (nanoPCR) is a recently developed technique for the rapid detection of bacterial and viral DNA. Here we describe a novel nanoPCR assay for the...

The mink enteritis virus (MEV) SD12/01 strain was isolated from a mink showing clinical and pathological signs of enteritis in Shandong, China, in 2012. The genome of MEV SD12/01 was sequenced and analyzed, which will promote a better understanding of the molecular epidemiology and genetic diversity of MEV field isolates in northern China.
متن کاملNovel Circovirus from Mink, China
A long-established epidemic of enteritis, caused by an unidentified pathogen distinct from parvovirus, has now been recognized in mink. In 2013, we identified a novel circovirus by degenerate PCR and fully sequenced its genome. This virus differs substantially from currently known members of the genus Circovirus and represents a new species.
متن کاملTwo parvoviruses that cause different diseases in mink have different transcription patterns: transcription analysis of mink enteritis virus and Aleutian mink disease parvovirus in the same cell line.
The two parvoviruses of mink cause very different diseases. Mink enteritis virus (MEV) is associated with rapid, high-level viral replication and acute disease. In contrast, infection with Aleutian mink disease parvovirus (ADV) is associated with persistent, low-level viral replication and chronic severe immune dysregulation. In the present report, we have compared viral transcription in synchr...
متن کاملCellular microRNA miR-181b Inhibits Replication of Mink Enteritis Virus by Repression of Non-Structural Protein 1 Translation
Mink enteritis virus (MEV) is one of the most important viral pathogens in the mink industry. Recent studies have showed that microRNAs (miRNAs), small noncoding RNAs of length ranging from 18-23 nucleotides (nt) participate in host-pathogen interaction networks; however, whether or not miRNAs are involved in MEV infection has not been reported. Our study revealed that miRNA miR-181b inhibited ...
